ZJU's Effort in the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Project
Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Authority sent a thank-you letter to Zhejiang University in June this year to acknowledge the university’s effort in the application of the project Integrated Application of Intelligent Operation and Maintenance Technology for Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Facing the challenge of a tight schedule and arduous tasks, ZJU team made contributions to the application of the project, showcasing the university’s technology and professionalism.
As the first sea crossing bridge-tunnel system, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge showcases advanced bridge technology in China. In order to support the intelligent maintenance of the bridge, China added the project Integrated Application of Intelligent Operation and Maintenance Technology for Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge to its key R&D plan, in an attempt to apply cloud computing, edge computing, big data and artificial intelligence to the research on the maintenance technology of transportation infrastructure, developing intelligent maintenance technology with independent intellectual property rights for key transportation infrastructure, setting an example for the intelligent maintenance of other large-scale infrastructure.
Working closely with Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Authority, the team from the School of Software Technology, ZJU put great effort into the joint application of the project. The team not only went to Hangzhou, Zhuhai, Beijing and other cities and prepared the application form of the project, but also engaged in the R&D and implementation of the sub-project The Key Technology of Massive Data Acquisition Based on Cloud Collaboration.
Despite challenges posed by Covid-19, the team proactively communicated with relevant organizations and carried out field work on the bridge, successfully finishing the scheme of the project.
